Available Cats

Are you interested in adopting?

Please complete an adoption application.

Note
: reference checks (if applicable) and phone/video interviews will be done before the application is approved for you to meet the pet. Our pets are adopted to the best home for them, NOT on a first come first serve basis.

Most kittens are required to be adopted in pairs. There can be single adoptions if another cat/kitten already lives in the home.

If you would like to find out more specific information about one of our available pets, please email us at followup@chicagopetrescue.org.  If you can't adopt, please donate.  Thank you for helping to save a life!

CPR’s Position on Declawing

CPR is strongly opposed to declawing cats for the convenience of their guardians.

The only circumstance in which the procedure could be condoned would be if the health and safety of the guardian would be put at risk, as in the case of individuals with compromised immune systems or illnesses that cause them to be unusually susceptible to serious infections. Medical proof will be required.

NOTE: Regarding kittens under 12 weeks old...

We do our best to determine the gender of all available kittens, but it's sometimes difficult to know for sure until they see a vet when they're between 8 and 12 weeks old. Kitten listings are subject to change.

FYI: Regarding cats who have their ear tipped....

You might see some of our cats up for adoption are missing a small piece of their ear, that is called Ear Tipping. This is done as part of the feral package. When they are first trapped we don't know if they will be friendly or feral.

An ear tip is the removal of about one centimeter of the tip of a cat's ear. This is an universally recognized, safe and humane procedure that is done while the cat is under anesthesia for spay/neuter surgery. An ear tip is a visual indicator that a cat has previously been altered and vaccinated. Because feral cats can be difficult to get close to, the ear tip can be seen from a distance and helps prevent re-trapping, transport, stress, and unnecessary anesthesia.

Once they have been fixed, we evaluate them and if they are friendly they are made available for adoption.

Euro

Meet Euro!  He's a handsome Domestic Longhair kitten, about six months old who is black with just a touch of gray/white under his chin. He is fixed, up-to-date on shots, dewormed, FIV/FELV negative, and microchipped.

He is beautiful black cat with green eyes. He is still a little shy around people, but once you pick him up, he likes to be petted down his back and a quiet purr may come. Euro likes to lay his head on your arm as you pet him. He is a chill cat that enjoys watching the birds through the window.

Peso

Meet Peso!  He's a handsome orange tabby domestic shorthair kitten, he is about 6 months old. He is fixed, up-to-date on shots, dewormed, FIV/FELV negative, and microchipped.

He likes to hide but will slowly warm up to you. Once he gets to know you, he will let you pick him up and prefers head scratches and may even purr for you. He’s a beautiful cat who will warm up to a patient owner.

Euro and Peso are currently being cared for by our rescue, but would like you to make them a part of your family today! The adoption fee of $125 EACH will benefit other CPR rescue animals.
